WAKE UP DEAD
Hank's album from 2005, available from $incere $ounds. A bunch of miserable songs superbly played by the Lost Cowboys. Sianed Jones played fiddle and sang on this, even some Mongolian yodelling. A punchy album with Hank getting more personal and Reg giving Sianed a real killer of a song, Wedding Dress.

COWBOYS STAY ON LONGER
Compilation of Hank's first two albums from 1980 and 1982, originally on the CowPie label, an independent UK Country music label, an early alt-country manifestation. Produced by BJ Cole, the first had a roll call of British Country rock musicians of the time. The second was live in the Pegasus North London, a legendary series of gigs in the early '80s. With the classic David Oxtoby cover, this has a rocky feel.

STORMY HORIZONS
More Country, and with some Irish influence from Dolores Keane and Mairtin O'Connor, this is a strong and tuneful set from 1990. Wangford ballads like Anyway and Excuses stand alongside beatier numbers like On The Line and My Lips Want to Stay. The title track is a tribute to the Louvin Brothers' enduring influence on us all. By this time Martin Belmont, of Graham Parker + the Rumour, had joined and is in great form on this one. Reg Meuross does great harmonies.

HARD SHOULDER (To Cry On)
A 1993 live album, two weeks out on the road with the Lost Cowboys. Untouched-up and unprettied, this is good raw Wangfords crying out on the Hard Shoulder.

WILD ATLANTIC SEA
Hank's haunting last single, a love song written out on the Western Irish seashore. It is recorded with the full symphonic backing of the Connemara Strings, led and conducted by Graham Preskett, known for his arrangement of Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" and his work with George Martin. Mickey Simmonds, who has worked with Mike Oldfield, Fish, Paul Young and Joan Armatrading, arranged and produced. "Girl I Left Behind" and "Captured by the Reel", the backing songs, are played by The Lost Cowboys.
